And after the beginning of the XXI Century,  I have come to the conclusion of the three A’s: Adaptation, Assimilation or Annihilation.

Looking deep into many world reports, from weather changes to population increases, intercontinental migrations or/and space adventures, I have come to the basic idea that our Planet is at a stake, in the sense that either we will all get adapted to the speed of changes, specially in our cultural environment, assimilating the differences and coping with our present threats or we will annihilate our main sources of existence. Due to the unstoppable speed of change, in constant increase, our lives will go through such a turmoil that in no more than three to maximum seven generations, our basic systems of life will disappear completely from our world. Beginning by the extreme temperatures, the invasion of migrant populations, the extension of antagonic values, and the increases of local, regional & global conflicts will set up an end to our basic political, economic and cultural patterns of coexistence.

Just reflecting upon one of the main US. Reports, “The Global 2000. Report to the President” on July 1982, I realise today that many of those facts are being already accomplished:

1.    The fertile lands have been enlarged less that 4% in 2000 so many of the increased production will be based upon fertilisers, pesticides, electric energy for irrigation and gas for machines, all of those practically depending on petrol & gas.

2.    A very gloomy future foresees a ¼ of humankind who will be dependant only on wood.

3.    Even if natural resources are enough for our Planet, they are very badly distributed and they will offer very difficult economic & environmental constrains for their exploitation.

4.    Water resources are already being deepened and demography increases have duplicated the water needs of humanity.

5.    Forests are being destroyed at a rate of 50% of commercial trees. An amount of ½ of California State has been destroyed yearly and 40% of humid tropical forests in Africa, Asia and Latin America have already been perished too.

6.    Erosion, desertification and water resources have been impacting an amount of a yearly dimension of losses about the size of the State of Maine.

7.    Weather changes have been notorious and will alter by 2050 the climatic conditions of our Planet, impacting human and natural life, with a decreased of over 20% birds and their natural environment.

If those firm trends are not being reversed in the next decade, annihilation will occur, probably in the next coming 150 years or beyond.
